Voice codec RA-5010 is installed between F STUDIO (FSTA) of FM Hokkaido and the head office.
In March 2023, F STUDIO (commonly known as “F STUDIO”), a satellite studio of F-M Hokkaido Corporation (commonly known as “AIR-G”), was established. Our fiber-optic voice codec RA-5010 was adopted for the radio relay equipment at F STUDIO.

When asked, “Is it possible to use Hikari Denwa’s office gateway to separate existing lines and voice codecs by incoming call number?” In October 2022, the network design around the voice codec started with the inquiry, “Is it possible to use the existing lines and the voice codec to separate incoming calls by number?
The original plan was to connect the Sapporo head office and FSTA using only a fiber-optic phone line, but since the plan called for live broadcasts almost every weekday, the plan was changed to an IP connection using NTT East’s FLET’S VPN PRIOR. The RA-5010 can easily switch between Hikari Denwa Codec mode and IP Voice Codec mode by setting from the front panel. Normal live broadcasts can be performed over a VPN line using the IP voice codec, and if there are problems with the VPN, the live broadcast can be performed over a fiber-optic phone line.

On the Sapporo head office side, a new Hikari Denwa office type (up to 8 lines for simultaneous calls) was added to the optical fiber line that was originally used. By adding the Hikari Denwa Multi-Phone Number option for the RA-5010 voice codec and assigning a dedicated phone number, the Office Gateway OG420XI can be configured to ring different phone numbers from other devices.

In order to reduce costs by consolidating fiber-optic phone lines, we expect that more and more home gateways and office gateways will be used in the future under the multiple phone number ringers configuration.
